Alex Pecora is our stellar Senior Customer Advocate here are Patriot Construction. She has been with us since 2013 and
Ben is one of our newest additions to the Patriot Construction team and has been with us for exactly one year! Standing as Project Manager, we are thrilled to have Ben a part of the team:
What is your role at Patriot Construction? My primary responsibility to assist our Lead Project Manager. This includes being on-site, in the field on a daily basis at jobs currently under construction. I am also the communication lead for all customers who work with our owner Jan during the sales process. As customers transition into the project management phase of the process, I am their connection to all crucial information for the job.
Most memorable project at Patriot Construction: We are currently wrapping up a foundation and bathroom addition. When our excavator started digging the foundation he hit something harder than soil. Once uncovered we found a concrete footer in the exact place we had drawn our designs. This was a coincidental situation but the town where the property resides stated if our engineer would inspect the footer, we could build on it with his recommendation. So once he approved the footer as structurally sound, we were able to speed up the job and save the customer that cost of excavation that never happened. It was a pretty unique situation.
What is one thing about Patriot that you wish more clients knew? I wish customers knew that many of the laborers out there will lie about being properly insured or insured at all. When we see our estimates beaten during bidding by more than 5 to 10 percent, it is usually safe to assume the company that is providing that estimate is cutting costs somewhere. Every customer we meet with on our initial appointment receives copies of both our Workers Compensation Insurance as well as our Liability Insurance.
What is one thing you wish clients knew about you? I grew up in the construction industry. My father was a Program Director for multiple construction companies including Wilmorite, Macerich, and the State of New York.
What is one dream project you’d love done at your home? I would love to take two of the bedrooms in my home and convert them to a master suite with a bath.
What is one item you need to have on you to get through the workday My Yeti water cup.
What do you do for fun when not at work? I have two dogs at home and two pet pigs that act like dogs! They occupy the bulk of my time when I’m free from work. We spend a lot of time outside grilling and gardening in the summer. Wintertime is great for the wood stove and a blanket on the couch with the whole gang.
Who inspires you? My grandfather has always been such a prime example of organization and self-motivation. He has taught me to set goals and seek the knowledge I need to excel and to always be there for family and friends. I look to him in many situations for guidance and advice as he was a Master Engineer and Program Manager for Xerox for decades. I hold his advice in high regard.
