Meet Team Patriot: George

George Emmel is our rockstar Project Manager.  He has been with Patriot for over 9 years!  Let’s hear a little bit more about George:

What is your role at Patriot Construction? It’s my job to manage the crews.  I make sure that the projects get done on time and in budget.  I review the budget before projects start, order the materials, review billing, help salesmen with pricing on larger projects, and pretty much whatever needs to be done to help Patriot Construction.

Most memorable project at Patriot Construction: There are a few projects that stick out.  These were very high-end kitchen and bathroom remodels, as well as some additions that were pretty intense.

What is one thing about Patriot that you wish more clients knew?  I wish that the customer knew how much my phone rings.  I make every effort to answer it throughout the day and still maintain projects in progress.

What is one thing you wish clients knew about you? I will go above and beyond to ensure their project comes out properly.

What is one dream project you’d love done at your home? I’d love to remodel my kitchen.

What is one item you need to have on you to get through the workday? My cell phone.

What do you do for fun when not at work? Eith golfing or hunting.

Who inspires you?  Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.

Alex Pecora is our stellar Senior Customer Advocate here are Patriot Construction. She has been with us since 2013 and absolutely loves working with our customers. Take it away Alex!:

What is your role at Patriot Construction? My role is the Senior Customer Advocate. I wear several hats with that title. My first priority is always making sure the customers are being taken care of and communicated with. I work along with each one of our departments in several different aspects. It’s exciting because not one day is the same.

Most memorable project at Patriot Construction: To me all of the projects are memorable, each one is different and unique in it’s own way.

What is one thing about Patriot that you wish more clients knew? How much we care about our customers. We do everything that we possibly can to make our customer’s happy. We always try and go the extra mile. When you become a part of Patriot, you become a part of the family.

What is one thing you wish clients knew about you? I genuinely care about each individual customer that becomes part of the Patriot Construction family.

What is one dream project you’d love done at your home? There’s so many do I have to pick just one?! I would love to put an addition on my home!

What is one item you need to have on you to get through the work day? My computer, without it I can’t do a thing!

What do you do for fun when not at work? Spending time with my Husband and Son and our extended family. I also enjoy singing and playing the piano.

Who inspires you and why? My son. He inspires me to constantly strive to be the best version of myself that I can.

She Sheds

We’ve all heard about the wild popularity of man caves.  Years after the creation of the man cave, women are creating their equivalent: the She Shed.  She Sheds are exactly what they sound like – backyard sheds converted into a space that is all about her.  If you’re considering renovating your old shed into a She Shed, or building a brand new shed for your She Shed, but aren’t sure just what exactly to do with your space, here are some ideas!

Craft Room

If you consider yourself to be artistic and crafty, a craft centered She Shed might be perfect for you!  Add a table and a comfortable chair and, suddenly, you have a useable workspace.  Store, or display your craft materials in boxes or on the wall.  Pegboards are a great way to stay organized and keep your workspace clear while showcasing tools and finished work.  Consider decorating with some of your favorite pieces, from you or other crafters, for inspiration!

Siding: More Than Just Picking A Color

So you’ve decided to side your home!  The next thing that will most likely come to mind is, what color will you select?  While changing or freshening up your current color will make a significant impact, this is not the only detail that is important to your project.  The little things can make such a big difference to your home.  Here are just a few to consider for your next siding project:

Curb Appeal

Many customers don’t realize how inexpensive curb appeal can actually be. You can give the front of your house a major update from anywhere between $1,500.00 to $3,500.00.  This is an area that really defines the look of your home and can be done without breaking the bank.  One option is to add cedar impressions to the front of your house with vinyl stone.  It looks just like real stone!  You then can have the rest of your home sided in the same color for a seamless look.  Another option is to add different color corner posts.  This can draw the attention to the front of the house.  For example, if you chose to side your house in a dark gray, adding white corner posts really draws your eye to the front of the house, due to the contrast in color.

Trimming Windows

When siding your home, there are two different ways to trim your windows.  The first is picture framing and the second is brick mold framing.  Picture framing is a standard look that provides a tight miter and an overall cleaner look.  In the process the windows will look recessed into the house, so the siding seems more prominent.  On the other hand, Brick Mold gives the illusion that your windows are not recessed.  The trim around the window is larger and bolder for a bigger impact. Either option can truly factor into the unique look of your final home design.

Standard Corner Posts Vs. Super Corner Posts

Standard corner posts are usually not insulated and are a smaller size with only one flat look.  They can be a good option if you want a sleek, simple siding job. Super Corner posts are insulated making them hold up better and less likely to crack.  They also come in an array of different looks to add texture and character to your siding.

Soffit Vents

You’ll want to consider perimeter or fully vented soffits.  The two differences are the net free air space flows and preference of look.  Perimeter provides a much cleaner look and has better airflow.  The design of perimeter soffit vents are made to work better with your roof ventilation.

The Final Touches

Small details like light blocks and hose bib blocks can truly add the polished look to your home. Taking extra time going over these areas can make a big difference to the look of your finished siding job.
